About Melbourne Comprehensive Breast Care

Care that’s informed, individualised, and focused on you

Our purpose

We exist to give Victorian women a safer, smarter way to screen — matching the right test at the right time to each person’s risk. We complement Australia’s public BreastScreen program by offering rapid risk assessment, density‑aware imaging plans, genetics input when appropriate, and clear next steps.

A modern approach

We understand that women today lead busy lives. That’s why we’ve designed a streamlined platform that allows you to complete your risk assessment from the comfort of your home, while we coordinate the rest.

What we do

  • Assess: IBIS (Tyrer–Cuzick) risk calculation with year‑by‑year and lifetime estimates.

  • Plan: Personalised screening intervals and modalities (3D mammogram, ultrasound, MRI where indicated).

  • Coordinate: Referrals to experienced breast imaging centres.

  • Follow‑through: Organise specialist appointments when required in a timely manner.

A Multidisciplinary Approach

Care at MCBC is team‑based. Your plan may involve:

  • Breast surgeons — leading clinical assessment and integrating imaging, genetics, and surgical decision-making where appropriate. Meet our founding breast surgeon, Dr Saam Tourani, and learn more about his role in establishing Melbourne Comprehensive Breast Care.

  • Breast radiologists — specialise in 3D mammography, targeted ultrasound and breast MRI.

  • Genetic counsellors — assess family history patterns; arrange testing where appropriate and provide pre/post‑test counselling.

  • Nurse navigators — help schedule studies, explain results, and keep everything moving.

  • Medical oncologists & radiation oncologists — available for complex or high‑risk pathways.

  • Plastic & reconstructive surgeons — input where risk‑reducing surgery is discussed.

  • Pathologists — correlate any biopsy results with imaging and clinical findings.

  • GP partners — because ongoing care works best when your usual GP is in the loop.

  • Personalised, not one‑size‑fits‑all — plans anchored to validated risk models and breast density.

  • Evidence‑based & Medicare‑aware — requests align with contemporary criteria and best practice.

  • Fast & coordinated — fewer visits, quicker answers, priority for high‑risk results.

  • Transparent — plain‑English reporting and realistic guidance on fees/rebates.
