Why personalised screening matters?
Personalised breast screening uses individualised risk factors to tailor the most effective screening approaches for each woman. Every woman’s risk of breast cancer is different. Age, family history, breast density and a range of hormonal and health factors all play a role. A one‑size‑fits‑all program can miss cancers in some women and over‑screen others. At MCBC we tailor your screening plan to you.
How the national breast screening program works — and its limits
Australia’s national screening program has been instrumental in saving lives, and personalised breast screening can complement it for women with higher or unique risk profiles [1-2]. The national BreastScreen program offers free screening 2D-mammograms and invites women aged 50–74. It’s an excellent service, but it isn’t designed for denser breasts or women at increased risk, and assessments after a recall can take time. Our program complements the public system with more personalised tools, modern imaging (including 3D and contrast-enhanced mammography and MRI where indicated), and faster coordination when you need it most.
What we do differently
Begin with a structured, evidence-based risk assessment in the comfort of your home [3]. Learn how we calculate your risk.
Match the modality (mammogram, ultrasound, MRI) and interval (yearly/every two years) to your risk and breast density — Learn breast cancer risk levels.
Coordinate genetic advice/testing where appropriate.
Provide a clear written report and a simple plan to follow — Understand your Risk Report.
