Understanding Your MCBC Risk Report

A quick tour of your report — what each number means and what to do next.

What’s inside the MCBC risk report

After completing the assessment, you’ll receive a concise written report via email summarising your results and next steps. Your MCBC risk report summarises your personalised breast cancer risk and provides clear guidance on screening, testing, and follow-up. This page explains what each component of the report means and how to interpret your results.

Client details

Your report includes your name, date of assessment, and a unique MCBC identification number. This ensures your results can be accurately matched to you and securely referenced in future reviews, updates, or discussions with healthcare providers. You will need your unique MCBC identification number when registering as a new client with US.

Risk snapshot

The risk snapshot shows your estimated chance of developing breast cancer over the next 10 years and across your lifetime compared with the average population. This clarifies whether you fall into average, moderate, or high-risk categories.

Year‑by‑year curve

A simple chart showing how your risk builds from your current age to 85. This visual chart helps clinicians and patients understand not just how much risk exists, but when risk is more likely to increase, which can influence the timing and frequency of screenings.

Genetic mutation likelihood and testing advice

Your report includes an estimate of the likelihood of carrying a breast cancer-related genetic mutation, such as BRCA1 or BRCA2, based on your personal and family history. This information helps determine whether referral for genetic counselling or testing may be appropriate.

Specialist referral recommendations

Based on your evaluated risk, the report may recommend review by a breast specialist or genetics service. These recommendations are designed to ensure timely expert input where needed and to support appropriate access to further assessment, imaging, or testing.

Medicare eligibility check

Your report outlines whether your assessed risk meets thresholds commonly used to determine eligibility for Medicare-rebated imaging. This helps guide discussions around screening options, referrals, and potential out-of-pocket costs.

Personalised screening recommendation

The final section of your report provides screening guidance tailored to your individual risk profile. This includes the recommended age to start screening, the type of imaging most suitable for you, and suggested screening intervals, rather than a one-size-fits-all approach.

Together, these components provide a clear, personalised overview of your breast cancer risk and help guide informed decisions about screening and follow-up.
